Before you begin this course, you should have a self-hosted blog (versus a free non-self-hosted one).

Self-hosted blogs are infinitely better for:

• making money from blogging,
• customizing your site as you want,
• working with ad networks and affiliate programs,
• and being the sole owner of your content.

You do not own your own content on free, non-self-hosted blogs such as Wix. Many affiliate programs and ad networks won't accept you if you're working with a free blog, and as a result, your ability to make money will be capped easily.

Most importantly, you cannot use Google Analytics on some free, non-self-hosted blogs like Wix. You can on Blogger since that's Google operated.

You can use Google Analytics on a self-hosted blog.

If you are currently on a free, non-self-hosted blog, you will need to switch over to a self-hosted blog. Not only will you need a self-hosted blog for this course, you'll want to switch over if you are serious about making money from blogging.
